Ovulation is the mid-cycle event when a mature egg is released, and it is short, often just a day or so, with a fertile window around it. Hormonally this is your peak. Estrogen is at its highest, testosterone gives a lift, and many people feel their most magnetic, articulate, and confident. This is your inner summer.
What is happening inside
A surge in luteinizing hormone triggers the release of the egg. Peak estrogen sharpens the brain and lifts mood, and for many people libido rises too, which makes sense given that this is the most fertile point of the cycle. You may notice clear, stretchy cervical fluid and a brief one-sided twinge as the egg releases.
How to support yourself
Use the social and mental peak. This is the phase for big presentations, hard conversations, dates, and anything that benefits from confidence and clarity. Your body is primed for peak physical output too, so it is a natural time for high-intensity work or going for a strength record, with a note to keep good form since joints may be slightly more lax. Lighter, raw foods tend to sit well, and hydration matters. One gentle caution. The high can lead to overcommitting or snap decisions that your luteal self will have to carry, so enjoy the energy without writing too many checks for future you.
